#KeepingItReal here, I honestly did very little school, work today. Yesterday was picture day, my birthday, and schilling shop day, so honestly I spent today in relax mode. Thank goodness it is a Saturday.
As usual my body woke up at 5 am not knowing the difference between the days of the week, but I managed to stay put until about 7:30. My hubby (still in birthday mode) ran to Panera for me for breakfast (that's a nice treat since my week day breakfast is a Shakeology Chocolate Shake) & I watched one of my shows from the DVR from last week when I couldn't kept my eyes open past 8 pm.
I then checked my email and responded to a few parent emails as well as a student email. To be honest, I love the fact that my county has given our students email accounts so they can reach out to me and advocate for their own needs.
My daughter came home to "surprise" me for my birthday (except that she figured that since she was going to come home why not also go to the dentist.... who then called me to confirm her appointment) so we spent the day shopping for clothes after she did a little homework for her college classes.
Once we got home, my husband had decided to cook an early family dinner since my kids had plans for the night, so we ate at 2:45 pm! But it was fabulous! All four us around one table, no cell phones present, eating yummy deliciousness together.
Once dinner was cleaned up I checked and responded to emails again and then lurked on twitter for a while. I always find the greatest ideas from reviewing tweets & I end up filling up my own email inbox with ideas I want to follow up on when I am in true "school mode".
My husband came in to the living room after a while and wanted us to watch the show Designated Survivor which started this last fall. We hadn't been able to catch it on our DVR and just recently got a Firestick, so we've been watching one episode every few days together as kind of designated time together. Today, apparently my husband wanted to try his hand at binge watching, because we watched 3 episodes in a row... a record for him (unfortunately not for me, I usually spend the first day or two of summer 'break' catching up on something).
Before I know it, the day has gotten away from me. We spring ahead tonight, which means, I will have one less hour tomorrow to catch up on the things I didn't do today. That thought is already haunting me, but I also feel so relaxed from having spent the day, my way.
While my specific day of each month is the 11, and that seems to be a non-teaching day for me every.single.month, (by the way, next month.... spring break...) these days are truly cherish-able. Many days of the week, I begin my day arriving at school by 6:30 and will not leave until 5:30; and this doesn't account for the time I spend at home doing work. I shouldn't feel guilty about my day today, but some how.... I still do.
Until next month...
